Alf Clausen Conducts the 2006 Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra |
On July 20, 2006, I had the pleasure of conducting the 85-member Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra in a reading session of Simpsons music.
I worked with the orchestra members at UCLA's Shoenberg Hall, leading them in a sight-reading session, taking time out to talk about the motivations behind the songs and scores, playing my own Simpsons orchestra recordings, and discussing my life as a composer in Hollywood.
My musicians' contractor, Murray Adler, also shared with the orchestra members a multitude of his career experiences, giving them invaluable "tips of the trade" about how to become a successful studio musician.
It was a wonderful night of music and camaraderie for all involved. |
